Copenhagen’s vision for the future development of its main harbour area is without precedence: No one has ever built an entirely new inner city district right into the water, on such a vast plot of land extending so far into sea.
The idea of basins and piers led us to propose a meander of neighbourhoods, to be balanced by a central street partly resolved into bridges of different length, some of them with additional uses. Within the different quarters public spaces are mainly located where the basins end: Here we find more traditional squares. They are complemented by open areas towards the outer perimeter of the quarters, where recreational facilities of all kind are located.
